Fair Work: More Information

 

The introduction of the new Fair Work system is an attempt by the Australian Labor Government to bring about fairness in the Industrial Relations system. It further aims to provide equality in the workplace, through the ten National Employment Standards set as a minimum safety net.

The new National Employment Standards (NES), is a system which replaces the current Australian Fair Pay and Condition Standard. It is a national system that serves like a safety net to all employers regardless of an employee's salary. [more]

The Fair Work Act 2009 creates a new framework for enterprise bargaining, but it does not use the concept of unions or non-union agreements. Instead the agreement is made when it is approved by a valid majority of the employees to whom it will apply. [more]
